VFX Research - Muller/TBWA London

An advertisement for Müller yoghurt. The plot shows a series of events which turn a dull, gloomy scenario into a brighter and cheerier setting.  The advert includes many familiar faces and many different effects to portray the characters and liven the story.

In the behind-the-scenes version of the advert, we can see every bit of animation and film is broken down. First the shots of the car, and the policeman were filmed live, along with the huge backgrounds for the film. The animated characters are split into 2 sets:  one being in traditional Hand-drawn animation, and the other created by computer animation. (the video also shows their research for the copyrighted characters used for the hand-drawn animation). Most of the effects, such as the clouds and fruit splat designs were also created with computer animation, while in one of the crowd shots, a morph suit is used for green-screening the animated character later in the film. A lot of composition is put into the film to either darken the tone at the beginning, or brighten it up in the end. Each scene, as shown in the end of the making of feature, is compiled layer by layer, including characters, backgrounds, shading and effects.
